The D-MeerKAT consortium is an initiative to bring together researchers from German universities, Max Planck Institutes and the Jülich Supercomputing Centre in the development of big data management structures, software pipelines and instrumentation to prepare for the next-generation of radio telescopes, such as, MeerKAT, an SKA prototype telescope, SKA pathfinders and eventually the SKA. The D-MeerKAT is funded via 'Verbundforschung' by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
