If you are interested in observing with the International LOFAR Telescope (ILT) and are not sure where to start, please refer to the LOFAR Quick Start Guide.
ILT Data Policies
Please refer to the LOFAR Data Policies document for policies on data rights and, e.g. how to handle data from the Long Term Archive (LTA).
Acknowledgements for papers based on ILT data
Should you have written a paper that somehow involves LOFAR data, you are requested to include proper acknowledgements. There are different phrases depending on the exact scenario, please refer to the publications and authorship policy page on the Astron website to determine which one to use in your particular case.
GLOW Mode Observations
If you are interested in observing with the German stations in GLOW Mode, please send an e-mail to glow-lofar-scheduling [at] lists.mpifr-bonn.mpg.de.
GLOW Mode Data Policies
Acknowledgements for papers based on GLOW mode data
Authors of a publication should invite the GLOW station owners to nominate one individual per station for opt-in co-authorship, with the expectation that this person would have the opportunity for a meaningful contribution to the manuscript. GLOW stations, their station owners and their funding sources must be properly acknowledged in publications that use data taken with these stations. In case GLOW observing hardware was used, GLOW should also be acknowledged.
Example text (adjust to reflect the actually used stations): "This paper is based on data obtained with the German stations of the International LOFAR Telescope (ILT), constructed by ASTRON [van Haarlem et al. (2013)], during station-owners time. In this work we made use of data from the Effelsberg (DE601) LOFAR station funded by the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft; the Unterweilenbach (DE602) LOFAR station funded by the Max-Planck-Institut für Astrophysik, Garching; the Tautenburg (DE603) L LOFAR station funded by the State of Thuringia, supported by the European Union (EFRE) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) Verbundforschung project D-LOFAR I (grant 05A08ST1); the Potsdam (DE604) LOFAR station funded by the Leibniz-Institut für Astrophysik, Potsdam; the Jülich (DE605) LOFAR station supported by the BMBF Verbundforschung project D-LOFAR I (grant 05A08LJ1); and the Norderstedt (DE609) LOFAR station funded by the BMBF Verbundforschung project D-LOFAR II (grant 05A11LJ1). The observations of the German LOFAR stations were carried out in the stand-alone GLOW mode (German LOng-Wavelength array), which is technically operated and supported by the Max-Planck-Institut für Radioastronomie, the Forschungszentrum Jülich and Bielefeld University. We acknowledge support and operation of the GLOW network, computing and storage facilities by the FZ-Jülich, the MPIfR and Bielefeld University and financial support from BMBF D-LOFAR III (grant 05A14PBA), and by the states of Nordrhein-Westfalia and Hamburg."
